Held in the theater at JULIA DE BURGOS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER,  
1680 Lexington Avenue, NYC 10029 on
106 Street (take 6 train to 103rd street). 

 

Rebel Theater Company's (open call) (Non-traditional Casting) auditions for a new adaptation of “GHOSTS” by Ibsen; set in Jamaica, 1982. Directed by award winning director Rajendra Maharaj.

 

Auditions: August 19th from 1 PM - 7 PM and August 20th from 4 - 7 PM at 

JULIA DE BURGOS CENTER, 1680 Lexington Avenue, NYC 10029 on 106 Street. 

 

Call Backs: August 21 and 22 from 6:30 - 9 PM

 

Cast

Mrs. Andrews: mid to late 40’s widow (Jamaican accent)
Barrington
: 28, her son (Jamaican accent)
Pastor Mattison
, middle-aged white or Asian American man
JaBingy
: 50+year-old Rastafarian (heavy Jamaican accent)
Carmella Bingy
: early 30’s (heavy Jamaican accent)
Three ORPHAN children
: mixed races, must read young (Jamaican accent)


All must prepare a contemporary or classical 2 min monologue. 
Orphans must also prepare a cappella song (Jamaican accent). 

 

Rehearsals: September 11 through October 1, 2006, Mon-Fri: 6:30 - 11PM, Sats: 2 - 7PM

Performances: October 10 through November 2, 2006  Tue/Wed/Thur at 7:00 PM

Rebel Theater opens it’s inaugural season with its adaptation of one of the world's most beloved plays. 

Set on the island of Jamaica in the early 1980's, this original Caribbean adaptation reveals the tragedies surrounding love, legacy, and family secrets during the initial years of the AIDS epidemic. This timeless drama takes you deep within the Jamaican culture on a provocative and emotional journey.
